Welcome to Michael Grills Photography!

If you haven't guessed by now, my name is Michael Grills and I have been practicing photography since I was in High School. I am a self-taught photographer who has been specializing in Wedding photography for over 6 years, working for a well respected photography studio in Toronto.

Upon my move to Prince Edward County two years ago, I have broadened the scope of my work. I have a long list of commercial clients, including Taste the County, Fifth Town Cheese, Gilbert and Lighthall, Books and Company, Miss Lily's and Scout Design.

My photography can help enhance your company's online presence and in use for brochure and magazine publication.

In addition, I also bring my style of natural light and location photography to my family and baby portraits.

Contact me so we can discuss how I can beautifully capture your wedding, company or family.

Photography for Advertising and Marketing campaigns.

While I have been offering this service for quite sometime, I figured it would make sense to publish a brochure which highlights the purpose and outlines my services that I offer to small and large businesses in the Prince Edward County area and beyond. Advertising is such an important medium to communicate your products and services to current and potential clients. One often overlooked aspect is photography. Often, cell phone or Point and Shoot cameras are used to visually describe what is available at your establishment. These photos, while they do visualize the object or service, often do not make it look appealing or attractive, and thats the whole purpose of advertising, isn’t it.

And with us all watching costs, our advertising dollars have been seriously under the microscope. Its bad enough that we sometimes feel the cost of a newspaper ad or brochure is not cost effective, but add in some unappealing or out-dated photography, and your prospective viewer is quickly turned off. It is my goal to visually improve how your establishment is seen and considered by consumers.

All clients receive a full consultation prior to the scheduled session to provide an efficient session time to number of images. If you feel I can help you promote you and/or your business, please feel free to contact me and I would love to sit down with you and discuss your needs. Thank-you.

Previous clients include Fifth Town Cheese, Regent Café, Regent Theatre, Angeline’s Restaurant and Inn, Books and Company, East and Main Bistro, and more. For more images, please visit my website and on Facebook

Jill & Terence at Mildred Temple Kitchen

My last wedding of 2010 took place in Downtown Toronto at Mildred Temple Kitchen in Liberty Village. Jill and Terence put together a eclectic, vegan wedding together in a fun but sophisticated style.

We decided it would be a great idea to travel around Toronto and take some pictures at some of their favourite locations. Suspect video, Bellwoods Park, and a quick stop at the new Dufferin Street underpass at Queen West.

After our photo shoot, it was back to the Gladstone for some relaxing time before heading to Mildred Temple Kitchen for the Ceremony and Reception.

Of course, there are more images for your viewing pleasure ‘here‘!

Jayna & Robert

Starting off the wedding season early, at the end of January, Jayna & Robert made it out for an engagement session in South Mississauga at Adamson Estates, where we encountered a wedding party photo shoot in full swing! At the end of January, the word was defiantly ‘Cool.’

Jayna and Robert’s wedding isn’t until November, and the weather won’t be summer like then either, so seeing this wedding taking place in -2c weather was certainly an eye opener. And while it is a while off, I am super excited about their wedding, but will also see them again, I’m sure at her sister’s wedding, which is in May of this year.

Horntrip Magazine: A rural café culture.

Here at home with my son, and while he is sleeping, I am getting caught up with my posts on work I’ve done for Horntrip, over a cup of coffee, no less, reminds me of my reoccurring visits to many of the local establishments that serve up a mighty fine cup of coffee. I haven’t seen FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper in any of these places, but if he was in the area on a special investigation, I’m sure he’d be found savouring some of the beverages and tasty treats and eats that are available. Most of the cafés in the county insist and make a vocal point of serving fair trade coffees, locally produced ingredients, and of course all with the flair that Prince Edward County is known for. And maybe one might find a rare slice of cherry pie.

This week brings us the latest edition of the county arts magazine Square2. Featured in this issue are two photo shoots I conducted in conjunction with the editors of Square 2. One is an article on the musician Emily Fennell, and another on fashion designer and creator Koren Bellman.

Fashion Party at Kelly’s Shop in Picton

Like last year, we had a little fashion show type photo shoot at Kelly’s Shop. This year we ventured outside and did some photos in amongst the garden and, alas, the compost bins, haha. Nothing like some eco friendly backdrops. While the sun was hot, our models were hotter in the latest fashions available at Kelly’s shop on Main Street in Picton.
